General measuring tips

For curtains and blinds

Decide whether your curtains or blinds will be inside or outside the window recess
Use a metal tape measure as they are more accurate
All measurements need to be supplied in centimetres for curtains and milimetres for blinds
Please check all your measurements to make sure they are correct
Keep a record of your measurements for your records
Full length curtains will be made to clear the floor by 1 cm unless otherwise stated.
Short curtains should hang 10 - 15 cms below recess or 2.5 cms above a radiator
Always measure the pole/track and not the window.
Measure the width between finials for poles
Measure the width from end to end for tracks
Include any overlap in your measurements for tracks that overlap in the middle

Curtains outside a window recess

Poles/tracks should be fitted 12 - 15 cms above the recess
Allow an extra 20 -30 cms either side of the window recess for curtains to pull back clear of the window and allow as much
   light in as possible

Curtains inside a widow recess

Sill length curtains will be made 1 cm clear of the sill

Blinds outside a window recess

Blinds should be fitted 10-12 cms above window recess
Blinds should hang 10 - 12 cms below the recess (check there are no obstructions under the recess such as radiators)
Allow an extra 5 - 10 cms either side of the window recess
